I would let the studet teacher know that all the lessons are based on 'the academic standards then, Construct assesments that studens have to do ,tap into the student prior knowledge of the content, followed by a guiding question, reading books for informational purpose then present rubric to student letting them know what is required follow with hands on projects working collaboratively.
